FIRST GRADE

First grade sets a fast-paced schedule. We use our time wisely, while still taking the time to involve hands-on activities and literacy studies to promote a well-rounded student. Our teachers lead students in seasonal studies, novel studies, and an in-depth creative writing unit (in addition to the Abeka curriculum) that culminates in students writing and performing their own plays.

First grade implements flexible seating to allow children to learn in the way that God made them to learn and explore new content in developmentally appropriate ways. 

Teamwork is a strong focus throughout First Grade. Students are often paired and grouped together, then encouraged to work together to solve open ended problems with activities like escape rooms and project-based review.
